Rainbow Warrior

Matauri-Bay - Red-Scorpionfish

The red scorpionfish (scorpaena scrofa) is not a good swimmer but it is perfectly disguised. Fish that swim too close are grabbed in an instant. The spikes on its back fin are poisonous (although non-lethal to humans) and provide protection against attacks.

Campaigner Steve Sawyer, is seen here next to the damaged Rainbow Warrior. This is the aftermath of the 1985 bombing and we see a hole created by the bomb explosion.
Near the Propeller, at the stern, the second mine detonated. It was nearly midnight. Within a few minutes the ship sank.
